The University of Göttingen is an internationally renowned research university
with a focus on research-based teaching in a remarkable range of subjects – most notably in the humanities – and housing excellent facilities for scientific inquiry in the natural sciences.
The Goettingen Research Campus (GRC) is a successful model of cooperation in research between a university and non-university institutions. The GRC’s scientific network is expanding continuously to include more local enterprises as well as other colleges, and constantly strives to transcend institutional borders and hierarchies in order to address fundamental social issues.
Since 2003, Göttingen University is a public law foundation and as such, has been able to increase its autonomy and independent responsibility for academic and non-academic staff. Study programmes have been converted to bachelor's and master's degree structures. Göttingen offers optimal academic conditions for its currently more than 30.000 students.
