With 84 fields of study and a total of 218 degree courses, including 95 bachelor’s and 99 master’s degree programmes, JGU offers an extraordinarily broad range of courses. Some 4,150 academics, including 540 professors, teach and conduct research in more than 150 departments, institutes, and clinics.
Due to its outstanding achievments in research within the fields of particle and hadron physics, material sciences, earth system sciences, translational medicine, the life sciences, media disciplines, and historical cultural sciences, Mainz University is a globally-renowned research institution. The PRISMA Cluster of Excellence and the MAINZ Graduate School of Excellence are considered among the most elite research groups worldwide. Large-scale research equipment, such as the TRIGA research reactor or the MAMI electron accelerator, attracts researchers from around the world.
