We, the research-oriented comprehensive universities, currently face the challenge of increasing student numbers which have reached a precarious level for research-oriented universities. If the German government and the states do not provide more stable, ongoing funding for the research universities, the leading universities will not be able to maintain their current high quality of education. U15 wants to emphasise that only sustainable funding of research-oriented teaching can ensure the high standards for scientific education and research that we continuously uphold.
In the winter semester 2013/14 some of the member universities of German U15 reached a record high in student admissions compared to previous years. These universities include the University of Cologne, LMU Munich, Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, and Heidelberg University.
